Researchers want to hear personal accounts of autism diagnosis.

Autism researchers are looking for people to take part in an online survey investigating the process of diagnosis for autistic spectrum disorders (ASD).

The Autism Diagnosis Project, run by a team from Goldsmiths, University of London and London South Bank University, is seeking the opinions of members of the public on issues such as the time it takes to get a diagnosis, how diagnoses are made, support provided following diagnosis and what could be done differently to improve the experience of diagnosis.

Adults with ASD, parents and guardians of those with ASD and professionals involved in diagnosing autism are invited to take part in the anonymous online survey.

  1. This study could well be made also about Tourette syndrome diagnosis. Diagnosis of TS is extremely shambolic at present and no proper patient-care pathway exists with little post-diagnosis care, support or counselling. Misdiagnosis/missed-diagnosis is very common. TS has broadly the same incidence as ASD (and shares many symptom groups with it).
