Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Social Communication Disorders Clinic is looking for schools in the London area to join a research study regarding children with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and their transition to secondary school.
The organisers are looking for mainstream state secondary schools in the capital that don’t currently have a comprehensive programme of transition support. They are particularly keen to contact schools who may not have access to specific resources for children with ASD, as they may not be available locally.
The research team has designed transition support resources and will help volunteer schools to put these strategies in place. It is hoped that such a transition package could ultimately be taken on nationally.
In addition, the team has developed a questionnaire to capture the views of teachers from across the UK on transition for children and young people with ASD. Information on the research project and how to get involved in the survey can be found at:
