Anna Kennedy, the founder of Hillingdon Autistic Care and Support, has been nominated as one of the finalists in the Extraordinary Women Awards 2010. Mrs Kennedy, who has been nominated in the Extraordinary Personal Endeavour category, set up Hillingdon Manor School, a specialist primary and secondary school for children with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD), in 1999. Since then she has opened a number of additional schools for children with ASD and has continued to campaign for greater rights and better services for those affected by autism.

The Extraordinary Women Awards, which celebrate the achievements of women across a range of categories, will culminate with a ceremony, a programme of speakers and networking sessions at East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham on 18 May 2010.
