Computer packages supplied under the Home Access programme, run by Government agency Becta, will all come pre-loaded with a suite of assistive technology software, Becta announced this summer.

The Home Access programme, due to go national later this year, provides computers and broadband internet access to families so that children and their families can enhance their learning at home. The contract to install and manage the distribution of the licenses on behalf of assistive technology software publishers has been awarded to Insight Direct (UK). The company took part in a mini-competition run under the EU-compliant Buying Solutions Framework for educational software.
