Bold as bras autism campaign

Autism campaigner Polly Tommey has placed herself centre stage in her latest attempt to promote autism awareness. The founder of The Autism Trust has launched a high profile billboard and poster campaign mimicking the famous “Hello Boys” Wonderbra adverts of the 1990s.

In an audacious reinvention of the risqué lingerie adverts, the mother of three has replaced underwear-clad supermodel Eva Herzigova with a picture of herself, similarly attired, alongside the slogan: “Hello Boys. Autism is worth over 6 million votes. It’s time to talk….”

With a general election imminent, the campaign is a bold attempt to bump autism up the political agenda and persuade party leaders to provide much needed help and support for those with autistic spectrum disorders and their families. “It is important that politicians do not underestimate the power of the autism community”, says Mrs Tommey. “With over 6 million votes and the current likelihood of a hung parliament, we really do have the power to tip the balance in favour of whichever party promises the strongest support.”
