Global online community for teachers

A free directory of teachers from around the world, who are looking to share information and collaborate on school projects, has been launched by internet communications giant Skype.

Created in response to, and in consultation with, the growing number of teachers using Skype in the classroom, the directory will enable teachers to utilise internet voice and video communication to share ideas and teaching methods.

Skype in the Classroom has been designed to help teachers plan lessons and projects with other teachers around the world, and to bring classrooms from different backgrounds and cultures together with online video.

The platform, which has been in beta testing since the end of December, currently has a community of more than 3000 teachers, across 99 countries.
