Suzy Rowland is an autism and ADHD specialist trainer, author, cognitive behavioural therapist and founder of happyinschool project and Teen Girls Circle. In this workbook, she has included links to downloadable guides for parents and professionals and the intention is that the workbook can be used by an individual independently, or with support from an adult.

Chapters include:

  • You’re Not in Trouble
  • Your Virtual Worry Basket and Worry Bin
  • How and Why Anxiety Shows Up in Your Body
  • A Bit More about Stress and How to Manage It
  • The Pleasures and Pains of Being YOU, Including Self-Care

The author speaks directly to the reader, acknowledging their worries and writes in a reassuring tone. She explains how the workbook can help, including identifying why going to school can be ‘tricky’ and how to create a plan, including techniques to make being at school feel better for the child/ student and exploring other options if returning to school is not an option.

Rowland uses six different cases to illustrate the points she is making. These cover the age range 12-19, with a range of diagnoses including autism and ADHD.

In the chapters, The Magic Question and The Word Wall, the author gives examples of ways to explore and express feelings, linked to positive actions.

Lots of useful advice and support for parents, schools and students.
