The actress, presenter and campaigner for disability rights Julie Fernandez has joined the Board of Trustees of Mobility Choice, a UK charity working with disabled people to improve their independence through increased mobility.

Best known for her role as “Brenda” in BBC’s The Office, Julie was born with brittle bone disease and has undergone nearly 70 operations to fix approximately 100 fractures. However, she says she has always viewed her disability as a positive attribute which allows her to think “outside the box”.

Speaking on her appointment to the Board, Julie said that she is “looking forward to contributing and helping to develop the work of this much needed charity.”
