The first Deaf Sports Personality of the Year Award will be announced in a ceremony at Wembley Stadium on 27 November 2010. The Award will focus on deaf sporting figures and will celebrate their hard work and commitment to their sport.
More than 700 guests are expected to attend the event which will follow a similar format to the popular BBC Sports Personality of the Year programme. Organisers of the Wembley event are hoping to raise money for Deaflympics 2013.
