The nation’s school children are being called upon to paint their self portrait and join the UK’s largest mass collaborative art project.

Face Britain, to be launched by The Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts in September, will be an attempt to claim the Guinness World Record for the most artists working on the same installation.

Portraits at all levels of skill and in any medium are acceptable, including drawing, textiles, 3D, painting, graphics and photography. Organisers hope that the project will provide a unique snapshot of how the nation’s young people see themselves.

Children and young people aged four to 16 years across the UK will be able to see their work displayed alongside that of celebrities including Fearne Cotton, Amir Khan, Jeremy Irons and Quentin Blake.

Face Britain will be officially launched on 14 September 2011 at Imagination Gallery, London an self-portraits can be uploaded onto an online gallery between September 2011 and March 2012 at: www.facebritain.org.uk
