Nasen award winners announced

The winners of the Nasen Awards 2011 were announced at an event in Bolton in May. Jean Gross, the Government’s Communication Champion presented the Awards which recognise excellence in SEN resources from educational suppliers, authors and publishers.

The Pasta Detectives by Andrea Steinhofel received the Inclusive Children’s Book Award, while Justice and Equality in Education: A Capability Perspective on Disability and Special Educational Needs, by Lorella Terzi, won the SEN Academic Award. Mark Le Messurier won the award for the best Book to Promote Professional Development for Teaching Tough Kids.

Fun With Spot scooped the award for Inclusive Resource to Support Early Development, and Challenge Cards by Rachel Beyer won the Primary Resource/Book to support Teaching and Learning Award.

Tina Rae and Rachel Hayes won the award for Secondary Resource/Book to support Teaching and Learning Award for Keeping Out of Trouble, and the award for ICT Resource to support Teaching and Learning went to the Recordable Bar/Story Sequencer.

A special award for the best Resource to Support Speech, Language and Communications Needs, created to celebrate the National Year of Communication, went to I Hear With my Little Ear 2 by Liz Baldwin.
