An online what’s on listing service, specifically designed for parents and carers with children, family or friends with special needs, has been launched by the learning disability charity Netbuddy.
The listing provides details of inclusive club nights, autism-friendly film screenings, live music gigs for and by people with learning disabilities, special needs yoga groups and inclusive festivals. It will also cover inclusive dance and drama, exhibitions by disabled artists, relaxed theatre performances and accessible sports.
People with learning disabilities are facing the full impact of cuts to services, according to a recent Mencap report, which found that one in four adults are stuck at home. Nearly a third of local authorities have closed day services in the last three years, leaving many people with special needs with very few places to go.
