The site aims to address the interests and concerns of those with disabilities.

A new website aims to help less able individuals to engage globally within a safe, social media environment.

Disabilinet.com, which has been developed by a team of disability specialists and online developers, is designed to provide those with disabilities with a network to share images, advice and viewpoints, and provide mutual support.

The site is the brainchild of entrepreneur Mike Simmonds, who says it will be different to mainstream social media sites like Facebook because it will seek to engage with the specific interests and concerns of the less well able in a more effective way than more generic networks are able to. The launch of Disabilinet.com reflects a trend in the spread of social media sites addressing defined user groups.
