Hairy bikers in school food challenge

The nation’s secondary school children are being tasked to design and cook a school meal based on recipes indigenous to their part of the country. The challenge, which is part of British Food Fortnight, has been inspired by the recent “Mums Know Best” TV programme featuring cookery experts David Myers and Simon King, collectively known as the Hairy Bikers.

Pre-school and primary school children will also have their own challenge, to design the ultimate school smoothie, which has been devised in association with children’s book and film character Tractor Ted and will be judged by children’s TV presenter Michaela Strachan.
