The Government’s programme to support degree-level and specialist training for school support staff in special educational needs is open for applications from today.
The Government has set aside £500,000 to help successful candidates pay for training. The programme will fund 50 per cent of the total course costs, up to a ceiling of £2,000 each.
The Department for Education says that the process will be “competitive” and applications are invited from support staff with an A level or higher level teaching assistant (HLTA) qualification, or equivalent.
Applications will close on 17 May, with the first scholarships awarded later this year.
