A new film about the experiences of people living with a rare form of cancer has been released by charity Sarcoma UK.
Cancers that develop in the supporting or connective tissues of the body, such as muscle, bone, nerves, cartilage, blood vessels and fat, sarcomas affect roughly 3200 people each year including children and teenagers.
Produced on behalf of the charity by Papercut Pictures, the film aims to raise awareness about sarcoma and explain the reality of living with this devastating form of cancer. It features real-life stories of people’s experiences of sarcoma, including that of Katherine Stittle who died two weeks before the film’s release. Katherine’s brother James Stittle, who produced the film, paid tribute to his sister: “What she wanted more than anything was to raise awareness of sarcoma, and this film is a fitting tribute to my sister and her courage in coping with sarcoma.”
The film is previewing during Sarcoma Awareness Week (13 to 19 June) at London Transport Museum in Covent Garden, and will then be available on Sarcoma UK’s website:
